Control4 in Boca Raton: X4, Upgrades and What Owners Should Know

Control4 is one of the most widely used whole-home control platforms in South Florida, and 2026 is a big year for it. Control4 X4 is now the current platform, and Snap One is ending cloud services for older OS 2 systems by the end of 2026. I am David Frangioni, and at Frangioni Media I design and integrate Control4 systems for Boca Raton homes. Here is what owners, builders and designers should know.

What Control4 X4 Changes

According to Snap One, X4 introduces a new Home Screen, personalized widgets, Routines and Apple HomeKit integration, and owners can manage scenes and devices without calling an integrator for every small change. The X4.2 release adds support for the new T5 in-wall touchscreen and the Zigbee 3.0 standard, which widens the range of compatible devices.

If Your Boca Raton Home Runs an Older System

Many Boca Raton homes were automated years ago. Snap One says it will sunset cloud services for OS 2 systems by the end of 2026, and certain legacy devices will not be supported in future versions. If your system is older, now is the time for an audit: what controller you have, which keypads and touchscreens are still supported, and what an upgrade to X4 involves.

Designing Control4 for Boca Raton Homes

Boca Raton ranges from gated golf communities to waterfront estates and high-rise condos along the coast. In each case, a reliable network comes first, then lighting, shades, climate, audio, video and security tied into scenes that match how the family lives. For seasonal owners, remote monitoring, leak and temperature alerts and surge protection for storm season are part of the design.

Control4, the Theater and Whole-Home Audio

Control4 is often the layer that makes a home theater and whole-home audio simple to use: one button for movie night, music that follows you outside, and lights and shades that respond together. If you are comparing platforms, see Crestron vs Savant and our smart home automation page.

Builders and Designers

For new construction, I work with builders, architects and interior designers to plan wiring, rack location, keypad placement and network coverage before drywall. More on the area: Boca Raton home technology.
