Music Studio Construction: What You Need to Know
If you’re a musician or producer, why not use time at home to hunker down and record that EP or album? If you have the skills and some gear, the next step is having the right space with your own recording studio.
Your local Miami studio builder, Frangioni Media, shares the basics of building a home studio below. If you can’t take on music studio construction on your own, we have years of experience building studios for top-of-the-industry, world-class musicians.

Choose Your Location Wisely
Depending on what you’ll be doing in the studio, you need to consider how loud you will get and the room’s soundproofing capabilities. As we have previously discussed, finished attics, garages, and new additions are ideal areas to isolate sound. Spare bedroom studios often cause sound to travel throughout the house. But with soundproofing treatments and specialized application techniques, we can minimize noise if a spare room is unavoidable.
-
Room Within A Room
To successfully isolate sound, the ‘room within a room’ design is a complex but surefire way to soundproof. We’ll create a second wall within the room that’s thick and well insulated to contain your music. Special types of glue, non-toxic viscoelastic, transform sound into heat when layered inside drywall. With this method, you can blast music, scream, bang on drums, turn the bass up to eleven—and your neighbors won’t call the police. Of course, installing and applying these sound proofing materials is an art form of its own, which we have spent years perfecting.
-
Optimal Acoustics for Recording
Not only is it essential to soundproof your studio, but you also need to consider the room’s acoustics. While soundproofing is concerned with keeping studio noise in and exterior sounds out , acoustics reduce echo and reverberations that can tamper with recordings. Untreated rooms have uneven frequency responses that interfere with playback. But absorption panels on the walls and ceiling can eliminate excessive decay. It is possible to absorb too much sound, which results in ‘dead’ silence. Diffusing structures can balance this, so the room sounds clear and crisp. The key is having a Frangioni-designed acoustic space. Natural, inspiring sounding playback.

Find the Best Monitors & Headphones
To listen to your music and have a true understanding of the playback quality, you’ll also need high-end monitor speakers. You don’t want to hear your tracks on a friend’s speakers later on and be shocked by how different or poor the audio sounds. Monitors aren’t designed to enhance your music, so you’ll hear your mixing and mastering precisely as it is when combined with the right acoustic space (your studio). Models like the KRK Rokit RP7 G4 and Focal Shape 65 are popular among serious musicians. If you also use headphones, you’ll need to look for a pair with proper impedance, sensitivity, and drivers inside. Brands like Sennheiser, Neumann, Audio-Technica, Grado, and Sony are reputable for their studio headphones.

Audio booth construction in Miami
A vocal or audio booth succeeds or fails on isolation. In Miami that means a room within a room, decoupled from the structure, with sealed doors, quiet HVAC and humidity control, because traffic, concrete construction and sea air all reach the microphone. We design the booth together with the control room so sightlines, cabling and monitoring work from the first session.

Vocal Booth and Music Booth Construction in Miami
A vocal or music booth is a small room with big demands. It needs isolation from the rest of the house, quiet air conditioning, sight lines to the control room, and treatment that keeps a voice clear without making it sound boxed in. In Miami, the air conditioning matters as much as the walls. Humidity is constant, so we plan quiet, well-sized HVAC and dehumidification with the studio instead of fighting noise later.
Studio Builders Serving Fort Lauderdale and South Florida
We build in single-family homes, waterfront estates and commercial spaces from Miami Beach to Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. Each project starts with how the room will be used: tracking drums, producing, mixing in Dolby Atmos, podcasting or a private artist retreat. That use sets the construction method, the room-within-a-room details, the monitor system and the cabling. FAQ
How much does it cost to build a recording studio in Miami?
It depends on the room, the isolation required and the equipment. A treated home production room, a booth with a control room, and a full Dolby Atmos mix room are very different builds, so we scope each project after a site visit and a conversation about how the studio will be used.
Can you build a recording studio in an existing Miami home?
Yes. Garages, additions, spare rooms and detached structures can all become studios. We assess the structure, the neighbors, the HVAC and the acoustics first, then design the isolation and treatment that room needs.
Do you build vocal booths and music booths?
Yes. We design and build vocal and instrument booths as part of a studio or as stand-alone rooms, with isolation, quiet ventilation, treatment and connection to the control room.
Do you build studios in Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach?
Yes. Frangioni Media builds recording studios across South Florida, including Miami, Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Palm Beach and Jupiter.
